Organizational Overview:

Friends of the Children’s mission is to break the cycle of generational poverty for the highest priority youth in our community through a 12 ½ year program that emphasizes development of socio-emotional assets and the skills to succeed in post-secondary programs and sustainable careers. We are seeking a motivated Administration Assistant to join our diverse team of dedicated and passionate professionals.

Friends of the Children is at an exciting point in our trajectory. We have completed a year-long racial equity initiative, in partnership with the Center for Equity & Inclusion, and are poised to transform our organization through the development and implementation of a staff-driven equity action plan. We are also in the process of developing a five-year strategic plan that provides an opportunity for this position to impact our long term development strategies and goals. 

Required Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • Requires outstanding organizational and time management skills.  Ability to plan, organize and implement multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and follow up as required.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly skilled in MS Office. Demonstrated ability to draft and produce accurate and professional meeting minutes and reports.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive, customer-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipate and resolve issues.
  • Ability to “manage up” and proactively assist organizational leaders to ensure deadlines are met and details are followed through. 
  • Ability to positively motivate colleagues from other departments to support fundraising work.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience with a fundraising database preferred, experience with The Raiser Edge and Greater Giving applications strongly preferred.
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work due to special events.
  • Must be able to follow established office opening and closing procedures including physical ability to open outside gate.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of HS diploma or equivalent, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Three to five years administrative support experience including senior- level support.

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Maintain current driver’s license, good driving record, and vehicle insurance.

Hourly Wage Range: $14-$16 per hour, 15 hours per week, non-exempt.
